About Victor Hohne

Oil Painter & Photographer

As a child growing up in the 1960’s, images of Southern California and the Seattle coastline formed Victor’s artistic memory. In his early education Victor focused on art classes and was fortunate to have teachers and a family that supported his creativity. During his high school years, he received recognition from many galleries, along with winning numerous awards and a commendation from the California Legislature. After high school Victor attended fine art and graphic design classes at the University of California in Los Angeles. Earning this valued education eventually enabled Victor to return to UCLA and teach seminars on art.

After his university education, Victor found his life increasingly focusing on his artwork and photography. According to Victor, “I was immersed in the process of creating something based on my perception of reality.” His interest in wildlife art has led him on extensive travels throughout Africa, North America and Europe and the great Southwest. He has also accompanied National Geographic Magazine on their annual photography expeditions to Klamath Falls Basin, Oregon for the migration of wildlife in that region. Victor has also traveled with BBC film crews in Kenya. Victor’s travels have allowed him to studied wildlife across the world in their natural environments. It is an education that is invaluable when trying to capture wildlife on canvas.

Whether it is the wildlife and landscape of Africa or North America and the Southwest, Victor says, “The language of nature is what I understand.
