In 1939 after the war broke out, the British Ministry of Information was formed. It was there job to create morale boosting posters to display on public transport and shop windows. The Keep Calm and Carry On poster was designed to be issued upon the invasion of Britain by Germany. Subsequently, the poster was never officially seen by the public. Only a handful of the original posters survived, being preserved now in the National Archives. Thus began an international cult following. The original civil servant who designed the poster is unknown but his or her artistry endures into the 21st century. This replication was printed in the same manner as the originals.
